What does it take for you to give up on a book you’re reading?
I only give up on a book if it’s not written well. I enjoy challenging novels with a stimulating narrator.

How often do you read a book, just because you’re in the mood to read it? (not because you’re obligated to for a book club, or a challenge, or for review)
We have a library of books, mostly old ones, that I still haven’t had the chance to read. I love finding a cozy chair, some hot coffee, soft music, and reading—but I never seem to have the time. So, I’d say “not very often, unfortunately.”

Who do you think is the hottest male/female character from a book?
I haven’t read too many novels with “hot” characters, but I would have to say that Zillah from Poppy Z. Brite’s Lost Souls is notorious for his good looks.
Zillah: “His distinguishing features include his crazy green eyes and the purple, green, and gold-dyed streaks in his hair – the colors of Mardi Gras. He is described as being incredibly beautiful – androgynous, slender, and shorter than Molochai and Twig, with pierced nipples and sharp, black-lacquered nails. He is portrayed throughout the novel as cruel, insensitive, and violent (sexually and otherwise), but he displays fondness for Nothing.”
As far as inner appearance, the character Ghost from the same novel catches my eye.
Ghost: “Ghost is described to appear much like to his namesake, very translucent skin, white blond, wispy hair and huge blue eyes. Kind and compassionate, Ghost often has unexplainable visions, and sometimes they are even a foreshadowing of things to come.”

Working Title: “The Thief” by C. Lee McKenzie.
Author C. Lee McKenzie is writing a new novel, and from the plot description, it sounds like an amazing journey of self discovery.
Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Hutchinson McQueen is trapped between an abusive mother and an absentee father. Shackled by poor vision and poor reading skills, he squeaks through classes with his talent for eavesdropping and memorizing what he hears. After another suspension from school and suffering through one of his mother’s violent attacks, he escapes to a friend’s house that turns out to be a meth lab. The lab is raided and Hutch lands in juvenile detention. When the court sentences him to six months in a new juvenile program, he meets a teacher with Alzheimer’s who will change his life and hers.

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading? I’m in between books, at the moment, however I’m currently editing my mss. My editor has so kindly provided me with his thoughts in red ink. Its going to be a long day ahead. Good thing I have plenty of lemonade and air conditioning.
What did you recently finish reading? I just finished Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. This novel was a cluster-disaster. Full of intricate twists, bizarre characters, and–as always–interesting inner dialogue.
What do you think you’ll read next? Next on my list is Rant by Chuck Palahniuk, which comes highly recommended by a dear friend. I’ll probably read all his books. They’re so different and for some many different reasons.
